NINJA KNOWLEDGE BASE

Everything you need to know about camps, mobile obstacle course, and conquering obstacles.

Camps

Should you wish to reschedule your camp, we require 72 hours notice prior to time of your camp.

Receive a full refund if cancelled more than 7 days out from camp start date. Account credit or rescheduling to another date can be done if the camp is canceled inside of the 7 day window. A cancellation within the 7 day window may incur a processing fee.

Yes! We encourage you to fill out the waiver ahead of time.

The camp day starts with warm up activities, camp safety/rules and obstacle introductions led by our expert ninja coaches. From there campers will learn and practice a variety of ninja obstacle skills, race style mini courses, learn to run parkour lines, and take part in some seriously fun ninja obstacle style camp games. There will be a lunch break at noon and breaks for water and snacks throughout the day.

Our camps are suitable for all skill levels! Whether your camper is a ninja newbie or a seasoned athlete, our camps are designed to accommodate all ability and fitness levels in a fun and engaging way.

We run our day camps with a ratio of 12 campers to 1 head coach, and have various assistant coaches that are supporting our head coaches throughout the camp depending on registration numbers.

Children are split up into skill groups based on age and ability. Even though some parts of the camp are done in skill groups, other parts of the camp are done as an entire camp team!

All of our coaches are first aid certified and have been trained on how to properly set up the equipment and safety matting for camps. All coaches communicate camp rules and obstacle safety demos at the beginning of camp to minimize the risk of any injuries.

Competition

A ninja competition is an event that is hosted by a Ninja gym. The host gym designs courses for participants. Courses are a series of obstacles in succession. Athletes receive points based on how many obstacles they successfully complete within the course time limit.

Competition courses are designed to test athletes’ balance, strength and speed. The goal is to successfully complete the most obstacles in the quickest time. Competitions are an amazing chance for athletes to test the skills that they have learned in a structured environment, have fun or advance to future competitions.

Competitions have different registration requirements. Many are open to all interested participants! When an athlete registers for a competition, they will be required to select their appropriate age and sex group. Prior to the competition, the host gym will provide a run order for registered athletes. This indicates when your athlete’s group runs, and when their specific event will be.

Our Edmonton and Calgary facilities both host competitions throughout the year.

Fitset Ninja hosts competitions on behalf of the Canadian Ninja League (CNL), the Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association (UNAA), and the Federation of International Ninja Athletics (FINA).

Our competition schedule is designed to give athletes the opportunity to qualify for finals in each of these leagues.

Major Competitions in Canada

  • CNL is the governing body in Canada for Ninja. CNL hosts the Canadian Nationals and defines the rules that most competitions in Canada run under. From CNL Nationals, you may be eligible to qualify for a world’s event run by the National Ninja League (NNL) in the United States.
  • UNAA hosts national-level events in Canada and also connects athletes to international competitions.
  • FINA hosts competitions in Canada as part of its international circuit, giving Canadian athletes opportunities to compete at global-level events.

Age Category
All three leagues — CNL, UNAA, and FINA — base the athlete’s age category on the athlete’s age as of January 1st of the current year.

Membership

  • For CNL, your athlete must purchase a membership before competing in order to potentially qualify during a CNL competition.
  • For UNAA, no additional membership purchase is required for Canadian athletes.
  • For FINA, athletes must be registered with FINA to be eligible for their competitions.

General

NINJA is short for ninja obstacle course racing. It is about conquering challenging obstacles through strength, flexibility and determination.

We offer camps during all school breaks. This is the chance for your kids to have some fun, friends and ninja while school is out! Our camps are a balance of Ninja and traditional camp fun.

To use our facility, all athletes must be at least 5 years of age. For our Tricking and Parkour programs, athletes must be at least 7 years of age. For kids under 5, we have a parent-supervised play area. We also offer a Parents & Tots program for kids ages 2.5-4 years.

Mobile Obstacle Course

Fitset Ninja offers the best, most unique event for schools in Kelowna! We provide an incredibly fun, memorable and safe environment for everyone 5 years and up to enjoy climbing, swinging, jumping and hanging on some awesome obstacles in a high-energy atmosphere.

  • If indoors, clean indoor running shoes and Gym attire (shorts or athletic pants/joggers and a t-shirt).
  • If outdoors, outdoor running shoes and additional layers to stay warm throughout the entire event if chilly

The maximum number of students are 40 students per session and up to a maximum of 300 students per day. If you’re planning for more students, we suggest you book enough days so every class has an opportunity to enjoy the obstacle course.

Our school obstacle courses are for all skill levels! Our events are designed to accommodate all ability and fitness levels in a fun and engaging way.

If you need to cancel your booking, you can do so anytime up to 1 week before your booking date for a full refund. If you need to cancel within the 1 week period before your booking, there will be a $100 cancellation fee and you will receive a partial refund minus the fee.

Should an unexpected weather forecast require us to adjust our normal operating procedure, we can provide your school with the following options. For most school divisions, we can either; bring our mobile unit indoors and operate out of your gymnasium, offer your school the option to reschedule at no fee, or store your payment as credit for future use. If none of these options work for your school, we can process a cancellation which will include a $100 processing fee.

If you’d like to reschedule your booking, we can help you do that anytime up to 72 hours before your booking day at no additional cost. If you’d like to reschedule within the 72 hour period before your booking, there will be a $50 rescheduling fee.

The simple answer is as soon as possible. Our mobile obstacle course usually book up 4-8 weeks in advance. To ensure you get the time and date you prefer, we would recommend booking your school as early as possible.

This will depend on how many students are participating throughout the day in each class. We often have 2-3 ninja coaches facilitating but can add additional coaches if required for larger groups.

All of our coaches are first aid certified and have been trained on how to properly set up the equipment and safety matting for camps. All coaches communicate rules and obstacle safety demos at the beginning of day to minimize the risk of any injuries. As well, all coaches have undergone criminal record and vulnerable persons checks.
